If you think that using a light meter is "so 20th century" you've got a shock coming! This nifty little gadget will save you tons of time and your photos will improve beyond recognition, especially when you use manual settings. It's small, so it fits in your back pocket and it's well made so when you're working outdoors, even if it's not very good weather, it's robust enough to keep working.

You need to be a bit careful because lenses are different, so you may need to make adjustments to the stops for individual lenses, but with digital cameras you can take as many shots as it needs to get the look that you want.

I like the fact that if you set the shot up properly using a light meter you have very little touch up work to do on the photos, so it saves a lot of time when you come to print out your photos. If you're still using film cameras rather than digital this will cut down on wasted shots.

If you're serious about your photography this is a tool you won't want to be without. It's not cheap but it's a fantastic investment, I love mine.
