The hanging flowers

by Krista

The hanging flowers.

The hanging flowers.

This is a photo that I took with my Nikon D60 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera. It is of a yellow flower hanging plant but zoomed in on two distinct flowers.

Krista, that is a lovely picture!

I'm not sure of the size of the blooms, but I'm guessing you used the macro setting on your Nikon? If so you framed the picture perfectly by keeping both blooms in the same plane, by that I mean they were both about the same distance from the lens. If one had been much closer than the other only one flower would have been in focus.

The lighting is also lovely in this photograph. It separates the petals so that the picture has a wonderful 3D effect. Because it came slightly from the side the lighting has caught the edges of some of the petals further lifting them from the petals behind them. Did you use the natural light from a window for this shot or was it taken outside?

Do you know what aperture setting you used for the shot? The fact that the background is fuzzy tells me it may have been nice and wide.

There isn't much you could have done to improve this photograph, great job.

If I was being highly critical, in a helpful manner of course, if I had taken the shot I may have tried to move a tiny bit to the left. This may have eliminated the slightly distracting white area at the top left, and hidden that petal that is just showing below the top flower.

A great effort with stunning result, please share more of your photographs on the site as it grows.

Carol
