Whole Wheat Banana Cake

by Sheila
(Philippines)

After regularly taking photos of my baked products for some time now, I decided on a different approach. Since I will be attending a food styling and photo shoot seminar in a few days, I practiced styling with my newly purchased white plate, an old silver fork and some caramel sauce dripped around the rims framing the cake slices.

I used my trusty old Olympus FE100, on Macro 2 without flash - hand-held. It was risky with my slightly trembling hands, but I somehow managed a few decent shots out of over 50! I'm happy that the cake texture showed through.

I currently have the copy of the one with my watermark over it. The raw shots are in another pc.

Galing mo sistah!
by: Judes

Sistah you're such a winner here! I know I don't have the expertise to say anything about your pic but , hey, I love it...excelente!

It sure look like a pic taken by a professional photographer for a cover of a food magazine. Can't wait to taste your samples sometime too. Keep going my dear friend. I think you've found your best amongs the many wonderful things you do.

I am soo very proud! You always put a heartfelt smile and yes sometimes a tear also on my eye when you send me updates such as this.

To God be the glory!

Blessings always,
Judes

Fantastic Shot
by: Carol

Sheila,

You have done a wonderful job here! Great composition, great lighting, yummy subject!

Seriously, you have everything right on this shot. I love the smoothness of the fork against the texture visible in the cake. The exposure is almost spot on, with just a little touch of burnt out highlights on the fork, but they actually add to the picture rather than spoil it in my opinion.

If I had to criticize anything there is a tiny highlight in the top right hand corner of another item that is just every so slightly distracting but I would be proud to have taken this picture.

So let's see more!

Regards,

Carol
